Protecting Your Puerto Vallarta Property from the Sun

When owning a property, protecting your home from the sun is important for many reasons, including keeping the interior of your home cooler and limiting the use of your air conditioners, and keeping paint and fabrics on indoor and outdoor furniture from fading under the strength of solar rays. Here are two ways to help protect your condo or house from the sun.

  • Consider installing window screens with solar protective fabrics. These types of screens, though a little more costly than regular window screens, will help keep your house cooler and keep insects outside where they belong.
  • Consider adding a pergola or louvered roof over your patio or terrace space. This will not only limit the amount of direct sunlight and indirect light to your indoor spaces, which can damage fabrics and furniture but can also create a much more enjoyable outdoor space for your enjoyment and increase the value of your property.

Just like we protect our skin from the sun, we need to protect our homes from sun damage when living in Puerto Vallarta or other tropical climates, to keep your home looking its best and protecting the value in your investment.
